Is U.S. Keeping NSA Surveillance From Terrorists, or From the Public? (VIDEO)
The National Security Agency has asked the Justice Department to begin a criminal probe into the recent leaks that have exposed new details of the NSA’s surveillance programs. Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said the leaks could pose “grave damage” by allowing U.S. adversaries to learn about the surveillance methods that target them. Speaking to Democracy Now!, longtime NSA official turned whistleblower William Binney and the columnist who’s helped expose the NSA surveillance, and the Guardian’s Glenn Greenwald, say the government isn’t trying to protect its spying secrets from terrorists, but from U.S. citizens.
